We offer our clients a complete service; from preliminary consultation through to project completion, including initial planning and budgetary advice.

Due to the high-risk projects we work on, workplace health and safety is our priority. We are ISO accredited, adhering to the highest safety, quality and environmental standards and update these annually to ensure compliance.

Our History

In 2004, Simon and Jenni Healey had identified a gap in the market and Digga Excavations was formed. Speaking with clients, it was clear there was demand for a multi-talented smaller business with a “can do” attitude to undertake a diverse range of projects within Tasmania.

Over time, the scope of work for the business diversified further in the areas of civil construction and maintenance works within the power industry. Throughout the preceding years 2005-2006, the company experienced growth and diversification of services, including the completion of various major state projects whilst carrying on business as usual by supplying pole make-ready services. This included; the installation of complex constructions such as rock anchor, mass footings and foundation, and subsidence works for the Norwood/Scottsdale/Derby, Bell Bay to Alinta Transmission Line, Railton Cruciform foundations and Sheffield to Burnie Transmission lines.

Between 2008 and 2015, Digga Excavations experienced unprecedented growth, leading to further development of its operational capabilities. This period of growth included the amalgamation of demolition, roadworks and rail maintenance into their portfolio of services, and expansion into major complex civil construction services. During this time, Digga Excavations demolished the Simplot vegetable processing plant at Scottsdale, constructed Elders Scottsdale development, completed rail maintenance on Western/Southern/Melba Rail lines for the Tasmanian Rail infrastructure, and assisted Downer EDI to undertake the APT Rail upgrade from Queenstown to Strahan on the West Coast of Tasmania. Digga Excavations developed their new facility at 16523 Midland Highway, Breadalbane in Tasmania, moving from their humble beginnings at Relbia to a new larger and brighter future.

Between 2016 and today, Digga Excavations have progressed to service the entire state of Tasmania, developing a new depot in Cambridge to cover the South of Tasmania. Further works have been undertaken to grow maintenance contracts with government entities and construction projects with additional fleet to support. Digga Excavations are licenced as Electrical practitioners, and for Hazardous waste/Class A asbestos removal.
